API 682 Standard

Did you know that as per API 682 Standard, barrier and buffer fluid have different meanings? Barrier fluid is for Arrangement 3 Seals (old terminology is double mechanical seals) and buffer fluid is for Arrangement 2 Seals (old terminology is tandem mechanical seals).

RO family seals are mainly designed for sealing crude oil, water and petroleum products in the oil & gas industry. There are several specially engineered seals to cover the needs of the industry:

The RO family seals are used for the same applications as the followings seals:
SH/H7/H75 by Burgmann, Germany
DHTW/QBQ/GSS by Flowserve, USA
8B/RREP/38B by John Crane, USA
